Armenia is lifting the mandatory testing of employees or their vaccination, according to Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan.

Avanesyan told a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, April 28 that the decision is based on the dwindling number of coronavirus cases and Covid-related deaths in the country.

The requirement to maintain a distance of 1.5 meters during events in schools, kindergartens and other institutions is also being eliminated, while travelers entering Armenia will no longer need to be tested on arrival.

Avanesyan maintained that the vaccination program enrolled in the country a little more than a year ago has played a key role in reducing the rate of infection.

Health authorities said Monday that 2,164,083 doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered in Armenia. According to official data, 992,195 people, predominantly adults, have been fully vaccinated in the country.
