Patapoutian's Nobel medal to be displayed at Armenia's History Museum

A replica of the Nobel Prize medal that Armenian-American molecular biologist Ardem Patapoutian won in 2021 has found a home at the History Museum of Armenia in Yerevan, the scientists himself shared on Twitter.

Nobel laureates can order up to three replicas in gold-plated bronze in addition to the one original Nobel medal in 18-carat gold that is awarded to them individually.

Patapoutian won the prize alongside American physiologist David Julius for their discoveries of receptors for temperature and touch.

During a ceremony at the History Museum on Wednesday, June 15, Patapoutian left a not: "I hope the Nobel display will inspire the next generation of scientists in Armenia. Future of Armenia depends on science and scientific method to make rational decisions"
