Armenia: Karabakh conflict should be settled peacefully

Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be settled peacefully around the table of negotiations.

Mirzoyan made the remarks at a meeting with the Marshal of the Senate of Poland Tomasz Grodzki on Wednesday, July 20.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister presented the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, as well as the position of the Armenian side regarding the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the normalization of relations with Azerbaijan. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that the expansionist rhetoric of Azerbaijan undermines the efforts aimed at establishing regional stability and peace.

Weighing in on humanitarian issues resulting from the 44-day war, Foreign Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the necessity of the immediate release and repatriation of Armenian PoWs and civilians illegally being held in Azerbaijan, as well as the need to protect the Armenian historical-cultural and religious heritage in territories currently under Azerbaijani control.

Grodzki, in turn, expressed readiness to assist the efforts of reaching peace.

At a meeting with Foreign Minister of Poland Zbigniew Rau earlier, Mizoyan slammed Azerbaijan's continuous provocations against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh and warmongering and expansionist statements coming from Baku.

The Armenian Foreign policy chief stressed that Azerbaijan’s steps undermine efforts aimed at establishing regional stability and peace.
