Kiro Manoyan: We're confident US President will recognize the Armenian Genocide
"We're confident the US President will use the word Genocide in his Apr. 24 address and recognize the Armenian Genocide just as he pledged to. Should he forgo his pledge, both the Armenian Diaspora and Americans will lose their trust for him," Hay Dat Bureau Director Kiro Manoyan told a news conference today.

"Turkey will strike an angry pose, but for a couple of months only, then the things will resume their natural order. We witnessed similar behavior of Turkey when France recognized the Armenian Genocide. Turkey would send notes for some time, but then things calmed down," Moanoyan reminded.

He also stressed that Obama's words will not determine the course of negotiations on either NKR conflict settlement or normalization of Armenian-Turkish ties.

"As for supposed deterioration in American-Turkish relations, they leave much to be desired ever since Turkish parliament refused to allow American forces' passage to Irak through Turkey."

In January 2008 Barack Obama pledged to recognize mass slaughter used by the Ottoman authorities against defenseless Armenians back in 1915 as Genocide.
