Macron: Armenia agrees to facilitate EU mission on Azeri border

Armenia has agrees to facilitate the establishment of a European Union civilian mission alongside the border with Azerbaijan, which has agreed to cooperate, French President Emmanuel said after a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as President of the European Council Charles Michel on Thursday, October 6.

“Tonight, Armenia and Azerbaijan confirmed their commitment to the Charter of the United Nations and the Alma Ata 1991 Declaration through which both recognize each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty,” Macron said on social media on Thursday.

“Armenia agrees to facilitate the establishment of a European Union civilian mission alongside the border with Azerbaijan, which agrees to cooperate. The aim of this mission is to build confidence and, through its reports, to contribute to the border commissions.”

According to a statement published after the meeting, Armenia and Azerbaijan have also agreed to recognize each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
