Kazakhstan refused to participate in NATO military training in Georgia
On Apr. 21 Kazakhstan Defense Minister Danial Akhmetov stated that Kazakh soldiers will not participate in NATO military trainings in Georgia. "We're not participating in NATO training. That's our final decision," Interfax cited Akhmetov as saying.
Cooperative Longbow 09 - Cooperative Lancer 09 NATO trainings were scheduled for May 6-Jun. 1, 2009 in Georgia, within the framework of "Partnership for Peace", "Mediterranean Dialogue" and "Istanbul Cooperation Initiative" programs.
Armed forces of the following countries are expected to participate: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Canada, Croatia, Czechia. Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Moldavia, Serbia, Spain, Macedonia, Turkey, UAE, Great Britain and USA.
Besides Kazakhstan, Estonia and Latvia also refused to participate in military training.
