Armenia sending 400 tons of humanitarian aid to Karabakh

The Government of Armenia has approved sending 400 tons of humanitarian aid to blockaded Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).

A convoy in Yerevan loaded with food, medicine and other necessary items is expected to start heading to Nagorno Karabakh soon. The Russian peacekeepers will facilitate the transfer of the aid.

On July 25, a government task force on managing the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno Karabakh approved decisions on sending urgent humanitarian aid to the population of Nagorno Karabakh.

Nagorno-Karabakh has been under Azerbaijan's blockade since December 12, 2022. Baku tightened the blockade on June 15, 2023, banning emergency relief supplies that were carried out by Russian peacekeepers and the International Committee of the Red Cross through the sole road connecting Karabakh to Armenia and the outside world. The move aggravated the shortages of food, medicine and other essential items experienced by the region’s population.
