France is keeping a close eye on the territorial integrity of Armenia after Azerbaijan's offensive to take full control of the Azerbaijani territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, President Emmanuel Macron said Sunday, September 24, accusing Baku of "threatening" Armenian borders, AFP reports.

"France is right now very vigilant concerning the territorial integrity of Armenia. Because that's what's at stake," Macron said in a televised interview.

According to him, Russia was now "complicit" with Baku and Azerbaijan is now "threatening the border of Armenia."

Macron’s comments come amid hightened tensions in the region and threat of new war by Azerbaijan.

On September 19, Azerbaijan launched a full-scale offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh, killings and injuring hundreds, including civilians. On September 20, the authorities ov Nagorno-Karabakh agreed to a ceasefire on Azerbaijan’s terms, including the dissolution of the Defense Army.
