Armenia’s 1st satellite transmitting beacon signal from space, developers say

Hayasat-1, the 1st Armenian satellite launched into space on December 1, is transmitting its beacon signal, the Bazoomq Space Research Lab and the Center for Scientific Innovation and Education, which jointly created the cubesat, said in separate statements on December 3.

“We are excited to announce that we are successfully tracking our “Hayasat-1” CubeSat,” the statements say.

“We will move forward with the next phase as planned.”

SpaceX launched Armenia’s first satellite into space in May 2022. The Armenian government reportedly purchased the ArmSat-1 satellite from Satlantis, a Spanish company that specializes in the production of small satellites and cameras for them. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian said at the time that it will be used for a wide range of purposes, including border control, natural disaster management and geology.
