Another suspect in Baku Oil Academy shooting detained
Police detained a second man with alleged connections to a gunman who shot 12 people dead at Oil Academy of Azerbaijan last week before killing himself, prosecutors say.

Police had picked up Javidan Amirov, a relative of the gunman, said the interior ministry and general prosecutor's office in a statement.

Officers had found 12 ammunition cartridges and five grams of hashish were found in his apartment, the statement said.

It also said that Nadir Aliyev, detained on Friday, the day after the shooting, had been charged as an accomplice. He had been at the university with the gunman on the morning of the shooting, said the statement.

Police say the gunman, 29-year-old Farda Gadirov, killed 12 people and wounded 13 at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy with a semi-automatic pistol.

He shot himself after security forces surrounded the building.
