Kremlin: Moscow in “quite frequent contacts” with Armenia over CSTO

Moscow continues contacts with Yerevan to clarify statements by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about “freezing” its membership in the CSTO, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told a briefing Monday, February 26.

The Russian Federation does not have an “understanding” of Armenia’s position, the Kremlin representative noted, Tass reports.

“We have quite frequent contacts with our Armenian partners. Of course, we will clarify [the issue],” he added.

Pashinyan said in an interview earlier that the country had “frozen” its participation in the CSTO. At the same time, the organization’s secretariat claimed that it had not received any such notice from Armenia. Recently, Yerevan has chosen to skip CSTO meetings. In particular, Pashinyan did not attend the CSTO summit in Minsk.
