France hails EU mission in Armenia for “contributing to stability”

French ambassador to Yerevan Olivier Decottignies believes that the European Union monitoring mission (EUMA) deployed on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border contributes to stability in the region.

“This Easter Sunday, like every day of the year, observers from the EU mission in Armenia are patrolling along the border with Azerbaijan,” Decottignies said in a post on X, sharing a publication from the EU mission.

“These patrols contribute to stability and [the provision of] impartial information to the international community.”

On 31 March, EUMA dispatched patrols on the Armenian side of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border to monitor and report on any out of the ordinary military movements in the border area.

“All patrols reported that the situation has been calm and quiet and that no such movements have been observed,” the mission said in a statement.
