More than 5,500 internally displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh have received Armenian citizenship, the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia reveals, according to Sputnik Armenia.

"As of December 25, 6,724 people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh have applied for Armenian citizenship. Of these, 5,510 have already received citizenship by decree of the President of Armenia," the Migration Service noted.

Over the past month, the number of refugees who received citizenship has increased by approximately 1,100 people.

However, the statistics do not include minors, since citizenship for children under 18 is issued automatically along with their parents.

Since September 2023, 115,365 people have been displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia. Most of them have settled in the Kotayk (20,331 people), Ararat (14,743 people) and Armavir (10,416 people) provinces.
