MP Tigran Abrahamyan from the I Have Honor faction of Armenia’s National Assembly stated in a Facebook post that residents of Syunik’s border villages— Khnatsakh, Vaghatour, and Khoznavar — are living in a state of complete uncertainty.
He emphasized the dangers of ignoring Azerbaijani provocations: “I spoke with many of our compatriots who regularly witness Azerbaijani gunfire.
First, I continue to insist that ignoring Azerbaijani provocations could lead to dangerous consequences.
Second, Azerbaijan’s actions are systematic and could escalate further.
Third, while Azerbaijani terrorist acts have not caused panic in the villages, there is serious concern.
Fourth, the authorities’ passive stance and criminal silence are creating a more uncertain and problematic situation.
Fifth, people in border communities are in total uncertainty because the government's messages are unclear and unacceptable,” his post reads.
Since March 16, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense has repeatedly spread false reports claiming Armenian forces opened fire. Armenia’s Ministry of Defense has consistently denied these accusations, and the EU monitoring mission has also refuted Baku’s disinformation.
