Pashinyan and Aliyev stress need to continue peace process

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met during the 6th European Political Community summit held in Tirana, Albania.

According to a statement from the Armenian government, the leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum in the process of signing a peace agreement.

"The parties mutually emphasized the importance of finalizing the text of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement. They discussed the current situation and underlined the need for continued progress toward signing," the statement said.

Pashinyan and Aliyev last met on October 24, 2024, in Kazan, within the framework of the BRICS summit.

This marks the second Pashinyan-Aliyev meeting during the summit. Their first encounter was in 2022 in Prague, where both sides acknowledged each other's territorial integrity under the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration. The second was in June 2023 in Chișinău.
