Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at the second Yerevan Dialogue international conference, which began on May 26, that he would initiate constitutional amendments if the Constitutional Court rules that the peace agreement is not in line with the Constitution.

“The peace process and the peace agreement must not be abandoned,” said the Prime Minister, as reported by Aysor.am .

Pashinyan added that the public would be convinced of the need for such amendments to achieve lasting peace in Armenia.

“However, if the Constitutional Court determines that the agreement fully complies with the Constitution of Armenia, then there will be no obstacle to sending the document to the National Assembly,” the Prime Minister added.

On March 13, Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced it had accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals regarding two previously unresolved articles, and that the peace agreement was ready for signing. Armenia is prepared to begin consultations on the date and location of the signing. Baku, however, has introduced new preconditions and stated it is too early to discuss a meeting timeline.
