Artsakh council announces protest campaign starting july 12

A new wave of civil disobedience begins July 12 in Yerevan, demanding unity around the Artsakh cause and national rights.

The Artsakh Council for the Protection of People's Rights has announced a new phase of its campaign, set to begin on July 12 with a major rally.

“A mass rally: The new phase of our struggle begins on July 12 at 18:00, from the symbolic Liberty Square. From there, we will march toward relevant state institutions, where mass civil disobedience actions will take place.

We are firm in our commitments and will not deviate from our path. The details of our actions will be shared during interviews and through direct interaction on the ground.

Our goal is to ensure a united, coordinated, and effective collaboration for a common purpose.

We call upon: The Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, all Diaspora organizations, public and political entities in Artsakh and Armenia, the authorities of Artsakh, and the entire Armenian people—

To unite around the idea of Artsakh and elevate the Artsakh issue to a pan-Armenian agenda.

Those who support our agenda should stand with us, by our side.

Let us remember—back in 1988, the awakening of Artsakh began with the people's uprising, driven by the same spirit, the same idea, and the same determination.

Today, that spirit is alive. Together—for Artsakh, for our rights, for the Armenian people,” the statement reads.

The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also commented: “We have repeatedly stated in the past that in negotiations with Azerbaijan, Armenia worked to ensure the safety and rights of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh, including through the creation of international mechanisms to address these concerns. Efforts to organize meetings between representatives of Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh in third countries also aimed at this goal, but these were rejected by the Nagorno-Karabakh side. Following the decree on the forced displacement of the Armenian population and the dissolution of Nagorno-Karabakh, the issue has been removed from the agenda of Armenia-Azerbaijan interstate relations.”
