Qualified art historians compelled to leave museums for higher paid jobs
A 4-day "Museum Management". museum staff training was completed in Yerevan. Over 30 Armenian and NKR museums' representatives were given a chance to share experience and discuss issues on RA museums' management and development.
The training focused on cultural heritage preservation, scientific concept of exposition, current issues in historical-archaeological museums, etc.
"The training was important for discussion and search for solutions to problems Armenian museum are currently facing," Erebuni Museum Director Ashot Piliposyan emphasized, "Old museum buildings and low qualification level among museum staff are the most vital problems. Qualified art historians are compelled to leave museums for higher paid jobs because of low salaries."
The training was organized by Erebuni Museum Director Ashot Piliposyan, RA National Gallery's Scientific Associate Ani Grigoryan, who, in their turn, participated in UNESCO-organized training in St. Petersburg.
The training was organized under the patronage of RA Ministry of Culture, UNESCO and CIS Intergovernmental Humanitarian Collaboration Fund.
