Narek Samsomyan, co-author of the “Imnemnimi” podcast, has been discharged from Izmirlian Medical Center.
“I’m recovering, thank you. I can already walk,” he said in response to a question about his health, Aysor.am reports.
He noted that he has certain limitations and is unable to answer journalists’ questions.
Antifake.am editor Astghik Matevosyan told reporters that Narek Samsomyan and Vazgen Saghatelyan have been deprived of liberty for more than 102 days.
According to her, over the past three months both Samsomyan and Saghatelyan have gone through difficult stages.
“But especially Narek Samsomyan — you know he went through a hunger strike and then had serious health problems, including surgery. The only positive aspect in all this is that, given his health condition, he will serve his detention not in prison conditions but at home. Otherwise, there is nothing positive for a person who has not committed a criminal offense,” she said.
Matevosyan emphasized that the restrictions are strict.
“As you noticed, Narek is prohibited from communicating with the media. He is allowed to communicate only with close relatives living with him or not residing with him, as well as with his lawyers. If I am not mistaken, this detention measure will remain in effect until April 10,” she said.
On January 9, the court decided to extend the detention of “Imnemnimi” podcast co-authors Narek Samsomyan and Vazgen Saghatelyan by three months. Following that decision, Samsomyan declared an indefinite hunger strike, demanding what he described as an end to “legal disgrace.” After 14 days, he ended the hunger strike and was transferred to a hospital.
