Armenia to create unified foreign trade center

Armenia plans to create a Foreign Economic Activity Center that will unify key import and export functions, State Revenue Committee (SRC) Chairman Eduard Hakobyan said at a parliamentary committee meeting on financial and budgetary issues.

“Simply put, we currently carry out customs functions based on a certain division. Declarations, registration, and document control are handled by customs authorities, while physical inspections are conducted at separate terminals,” he said, according to Sputnik Armenia.

According to Hakobyan, a key issue is that such terminals often lack the necessary conditions for on-site inspections.

“In many cases, there are not even laboratories where goods could be tested on the spot if needed,” he noted.

The SRC chairman emphasized that the main goal of the planned center is to concentrate all processes in one place, thereby facilitating business activities and reducing time costs.

According to him, the initiative aims to organize customs procedures more efficiently and strengthen Armenia’s role as a regional logistics hub.
