Tax authority plans upgrades for Margara checkpoint

The State Revenue Committee has submitted a proposal to the government seeking the reallocation of approximately 196 million drams within the 2026 state budget for the purchase of technical equipment and the modernization of infrastructure.

The project also includes upgrades to the Margara customs checkpoint, for which more than 10.7 million drams will be required. According to the justification attached to the proposal, the work is linked to the prospect of reopening the checkpoint and the need to accommodate expected passenger flows, Factor.am reports.

Under the proposal, the State Revenue Committee also plans to purchase 130 tablets for use by tax and customs officers. The procurement is expected to cost 58.5 million drams. In addition, the committee intends to hire three software developers to organize the development and maintenance of information systems using its own resources, allocating 48.4 million drams for that purpose.

The document further provides for the establishment of a customs monitoring center in Yerevan. Approximately 39.1 million drams will be needed for its design and construction.

The State Revenue Committee also plans to purchase two unmanned aerial vehicles — DJI Air 3S and DJI Mavic 3 models — as well as body-worn cameras intended for operational-search activities and investigations.

In addition, the committee plans to acquire new computers, printers, IP telephones, external hard drives, and a license for the HZ accounting software.

The proposal notes that the planned reallocations will be financed through savings generated within the committee’s existing programs, and no changes are envisaged to the overall volume of state budget revenues and expenditures.
