Republic Party formally asks suspension of Strong Armenia

The Republic Party has submitted an application to Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC), requesting the suspension of the participation of the Strong Armenia Alliance in the parliamentary elections, according to Auroranews.am .

The application follows statements made earlier by party representatives regarding the issue.

Previously, Aram Sargsyan, chairman of the Republic Party and the first candidate on its electoral list, stated during the “Chibukhchyan Live” program that he intended to appeal to the Central Electoral Commission seeking to have the registration of the Strong Armenia Alliance’s electoral list declared invalid.

The party has now officially submitted the corresponding request to the CEC.

The election campaign, which began on May 8, continued through June 5. June 6 is a day of silence, and parliamentary elections will be held on June 7. On May 25, the Alliance Progressive Centrist Party submitted a withdrawal request, after which the Central Electoral Commission invalidated the registration of the party’s electoral list. As a result, there will be no ballot paper numbered 13 in the upcoming elections.
