Karapetyan says vote count was halted

The prime ministerial candidate of the Strong Armenia Party, Samvel Karapetyan, said during a late-night press conference that followed the Civil Contract briefing and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s victory statement that “they will not get the victory they wanted.”

“They will not get the victory they wanted, because even from their interview and the expressions on their faces, you could already tell that things are not going well for them,” he said, according to Auroranews.am .

He also stated that, seeing that “their results were declining in a disgraceful manner, they stopped the count.”

“You have all seen over the past month the persecution we have been subjected to, the violence directed against us. Around 75 members of our team are currently under arrest, more than 700 people have been detained, and these people, without stopping, decided to engage in incomprehensible actions even on election day. Seeing that their results were declining in a disgraceful manner and falling every minute, they stopped the count,” Samvel Karapetyan said.

The Central Electoral Commission of Armenia has summarized the preliminary results from all 2,005 polling stations in the National Assembly elections held on June 7.

According to the preliminary count, Civil Contract received 49.81%, the Strong Armenia Alliance 23.29%, the Armenia Alliance 9.94% (141,001 votes), and the Prosperous Armenia Party 4%.
