Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated during a joint session of the National Assembly’s standing committees that full normalization with Turkey is expected in the foreseeable future.

He said that Armenia has achieved tangible progress at every stage of the normalization process with Turkey, according to 1lurer.am .

“We now have direct trade between Turkey and Armenia, in customs terms it is direct. Geographically, as you know, these transactions still take place through the territory of third countries,” he said.

Mirzoyan emphasized that the process of improving relations continues and expressed confidence that further steps toward comprehensive normalization will follow.

Yerevan and Ankara issued a joint statement in December 2021 expressing readiness to take steps toward normalizing relations. In 2022, representatives of the two countries agreed in Vienna to open the border to citizens of third countries and to launch direct air cargo transportation. However, those agreements have not yet been fully implemented in practice.

In September 2025, Serdar Kılıç visited Armenia. Armenia’s Foreign Ministry reported that the sides discussed steps to implement agreements reached on July 1, 2022, and agreed to accelerate the process.
