FIDH delegation to visit detained Arshaluis Hakobyan
The delegation of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) headed by its President Souhayr Belhassen intends to visit recently detained the civil rights advocate Arshaluis Hakobyan, Mr. Antoine Bernard, chief executive of FIDH told a news conference today. Mr. Antoine Bernard positively spoke about this opportunity of visiting prisoners as opposed to some other countries, where it would not be possible.

Member of the Helsinki Association and a photo journalist for the same organization, Arshaluis Hakobyan took part in the City Council elections on May 31 as an observer and he was accused of article 316 part 1 of the Criminal Code of RA for "resistance to authorities".
He was detained for expressing protests against hampering the work of observers during elections. The human rights activist refused to fulfill requirements of policemen, entered his house on June 5 and called him to follow without submission of relevant documents.
