Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan met in Brussels with Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General for Enlargement and the Eastern Neighbourhood at the European Commission, to discuss cooperation aimed at strengthening Armenia’s economic resilience and identifying new markets.

The two sides reviewed agreed programs designed to enhance economic and transport connectivity, as well as other topics related to this area of Armenia-EU partnership.

In this context, they underscored the importance of the joint statement on the Armenia-EU Connectivity Partnership signed during the first Armenia-EU summit and emphasized the need for its effective implementation.

The deputy foreign minister presented the latest developments regarding the situation created by economic restrictions imposed on goods of Armenian origin. He welcomed the support provided by the European Union and its member states.

The meeting also outlined future steps aimed at overcoming existing challenges and expanding economic cooperation.

The parties agreed to continue joint efforts to strengthen Armenia’s economic resilience and facilitate access to new economic markets.

The European Commission has allocated €34 million to Armenia to mitigate the impact of trade restrictions imposed by Russia on the country’s private sector.
