Armenia's CSTO dues reach 10%

Armenia's contribution to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) budget amounts to 10%, according to Russia's Permanent Representative to the CSTO, Viktor Vasilyev.

Commenting on the issue of membership dues, he said that "the matter concerns the percentage distribution," RIA Novosti reported.

Vasilyev recalled that Russia pays 50% of the organization's budget, while "the others contribute 10% each."

"Accordingly, the 10% that should have been paid by the Armenian side has not been paid for two years already," he added.

Armenia suspended its participation in the CSTO effective January 1, 2024.

Earlier, Russia's Permanent Representative to the CSTO said that the organization's leadership would discuss in detail the issue of Armenia's future membership.

On June 10, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that, due to Armenia's non-payment of membership dues, the CSTO would consider the possibility of applying the provision of the organization's charter that regulates measures against member states that fail to fulfill their obligations.

On April 23, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia does not plan to intensify its participation in the CSTO. Earlier, Pashinyan stated that Armenia had effectively suspended its participation in CSTO activities because "the authorities cannot explain to the public why the organization failed to respond to the events of 2022 in accordance with its obligations."
