Catholicos highlights diaspora support

On July 10, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II welcomed a group of pilgrims from the Holy Savior Armenian Church in Worcester, Massachusetts, part of the Armenian Diocese of the Eastern United States, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The delegation was led by the parish's spiritual pastor, the Rev. Fr. Tadeos Barseghyan.

Addressing the visitors, the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church underscored the importance of support from Armenians living abroad for their compatriots in Armenia during what he described as a difficult period for the country.

Karekin II noted that although members of the Armenian diaspora always carry their love for the homeland and closely follow developments in Armenia, visits of this kind provide a unique opportunity to experience the nation's spiritual and cultural heritage firsthand, visit its sacred sites, and gain a direct understanding of the realities and challenges confronting the country.

He expressed confidence that the impressions and spiritual experiences gained in Armenia would inspire the pilgrims after returning home to serve the Armenian Church and their homeland with renewed dedication, take a more active role in national and church life, and continue strengthening their bond with the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session, during which the Catholicos addressed topics including relations between the Church and the authorities, as well as ways to carry out the Church's mission more effectively under current conditions.
