
Armenian Deputy Defense Minister Arman Sargsyan received Satu Koivu, head of the European Union civilian mission in Armenia, at the ministry’s administrative complex on July 14.
Sargsyan congratulated Koivu on assuming leadership of the EU mission in Armenia and wished her success in carrying out its mandate.
The meeting also covered issues related to the work of the EU civilian mission in Armenia.
Finnish senior police officer Satu Koivu was appointed by the Council of the European Union to head the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA), bringing more than 35 years of experience. She took office in February 2026.
The mission’s mandate includes observing developments on the ground and reporting on the situation along the Armenian side of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. Its mandate runs until February 19, 2027. Monitors and civilian experts come from 25 EU member states and one third contributing country, Canada.
