Inspections begin at Tsarukyan-owned distillery

Investigative authorities have removed the seals from the Yerevan Ararat Brandy, Wine and Vodka Factory, owned by the family of Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan, and are now conducting inspections at the facility.

According to Aysor.am , Tsarukyan's lawyer Emin Khachatryan said investigators, together with employees of Armenia's State Revenue Committee (SRC), are carrying out inspection procedures at the plant.

"I assume they are checking inventory balances," Khachatryan said.

The lawyer added that it is not yet known when the inspections will be completed.

"They may last one or two days. I hope there will be no need to reseal the factory after the inspections," he said.

On July 6, investigators from Armenia's Investigative Committee carried out searches for nearly 12 hours at Gagik Tsarukyan's residence and more than 70 other related locations. Following those operations, several companies belonging to the Multi Group concern, including the Yerevan Ararat Brandy, Wine and Vodka Factory, were sealed.

In recent days, employees of several companies owned by Gagik Tsarukyan have staged simultaneous protests at their workplaces, demanding that the seals on the factories be removed so production can resume.
