Yerevan hosted a discussion on ratification of convention on people with limited ability
On June 29, Yerevan hosted a discussion on "Ratification and implementation of convention on people with limited ability: consequences, obstacles and necessary actions". The discussion was headed by Luke Simon, Chairman of International Network for Disabled People.
The event was organized by World Vision Charitable Organization, with the financial assistance of U.S. Agency for International Development.
The event aims at discussion of social and educational reforms for people with limited ability and implementation of joint tutoring system in Armenia.
"Armenia is one of the first countries to sign UNO convention, promoting the rights of disabled people. A law on social implementation of people with limited ability will soon be passed in RA. The law was discussed and coordinated with public organizations in charge," Head of the Department for Seniors and Disabled People at RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Jemma Baghdasaryan noted.
In her turn, "World Vision" organization representative Prasanna De Silva said," People with limited ability can greatly contribute to social development. Instead of feeling sorry for them, we have to create a corresponding filed of activity for people with limited ability."
The event hosted representatives of Armenian and international organizations, RA Ministry of Education and Science, National Institute of Education, Department for Seniors and Disabled People at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
