AZERI PARLIAMENT COMMISSION HEAD SUGGESTED USING INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC SANCTIONS AGAINST GEORGIA
Chairman of the commission on energy, ecology and natural resources of the Azeri Parliament Asya Manafova has come out with an initiative of using international sanctions against Georgia for pollution of river Kura. "Georgia recognizes the fact, but pleads absence of financial means to carry out the necessary measures," - she stressed. According to Manafova's information, there are 14 water-purifying constructions on the Georgian territory, but none of them works. Thus the sewerage drainage flows into Kura. The Azeri parliamentarian also calls to use economic sanctions against Armenia, too. But, if in case of Georgia official Baku is ready to hold negotiations to coordinate efforts to secure the bordering rivers, the Azeris do not wish to carry on a dialogue with Armenia. "We were suggested to conclude a bilateral or tripartite agreement on water problems, but I will never raise the question in the Parliament, until the Karabakh problem is solved," - Manafova stated.
