National Bank of Ukraine issues commemorative coin in honor of Armenian monastery
National Bank of Ukraine issued a commemorative silver coin dedicated to the Surb Khach (Holy Cross) monastery, press service of the Central Bank of Armenia reports.

In connection with the 650th anniversary of the Armenian monastery, founded in XIV century in the Crimea, the National Bank of Ukraine issued a silver coin in the fringes of "Monuments of Ukraine's architecture".

On the obverse of the coins khachkar (encrusted cross-stone) is minted. On the reverse of the coin the structure of the monastery is depicted: "Old Crimea Armenian monastery" (XIV century) - on the left and the Surb Khach monastery - on the right.

The medieval Armenian monastery of Surb Khach (1358), located on the Crimean peninsula, is a monument of state importance, it has been the center of spiritual gravity of Armenians and a place of pilgrimage for centuries. Many leaders of the Armenian culture lived and worked here at various times.
