USA seeks alternative methods for deploying anti-missile defense in Europe
By the recommendation of US Government, an expert group is considering alternative variants for deploying anti-missile defense (AMD) system in Europe. Specialists are to submit relevant recommendations no later that April, The New York Times reports, quoting Government sources. Such time-limits were selected considering the fact that AMD alternative variants should be ready before US and Russian Presidents Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev's possible meeting during UN General Assembly's session due in New York.

Changes in Washington's strategy aim to win Moscow's sympathy. The thing is that Obama Administration's assessments on Iranian threat differ from those proposed by Advisors to former President Bush. Some specialists are now reported to be considering possibilities of deploying AMD elements in naval vessels in Turkey, Israel and Balkans.

Quoting anonymous American sources, Polish Gazeta Wyborcza reported earlier that Washington may refuse deploying AMD elements in Poland and Czech Republic. Later, however, US State Department denied such rumors.
