UN General Assembly opens its 64th session in New York
UN General Assembly has opened its 64th session in New York. An important component of the meeting will be a general political discussion with the participation of state and government leaders, as well as foreign ministers. This year's session is scheduled for September 23-30.

More than 100 state leaders will this time gather in UN headquarters. General political debates will also be attended by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. That will be Russian leader's debut in General Assembly. Russian President is scheduled to deliver his speech on September 23, the first day of the meeting.

The same day, US President Barack Obama is to address the international community from UN tribunal. Many people expect him to start a correspondence debate with Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad who is also scheduled to make a speech the same day. Libian leader Muamar Kaddafi is also expected to surprise public. Early in September, US Ambassador to UN Suzan Rice asked Colonel to refrain from attacking statements against US.
