Armenia strengthening energy security
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended Saturday the construction site of Yerevan heating plant.

"Construction works are at the final stage. The launch is scheduled for April 30, 2010," heating plant director Hovakim Hovhannisyan told reporters before the President's arrival.

"The launch of the 271-megawatt heating plant is extremely important for Armenia, since it will allow processing of 1 kilowatt-hour of energy with half as much use of gas," he said.

For his part, RA Energy Minister Armen Movsisyan said that "with such technical feasibility, the plant will the region's leader."

Asked whether the energy will be exported, Minister Movsisyan said the internal market will be supplied first of all.
