Armenia celebrates World Tourism Day for the First Time
Armenia celebrated the World Tourism Day for the first time September 28 in Yerevan. the The Armenia's Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan congratulated distinguished professionals in tourism and passed them letters of thanks for their contribution to the development of tourism in Armenia.
Speaking about prospects of tourism development in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, the Prime Minister particularly said: "Studies has shown that our capabilities are not yet fully identified, and we do not use this potential, able to become one of the most important engines of our economy".
According to Tigran Sargsyan, the global financial and economic crisis has revealed one of the most vulnerable sides of the Armenian economy: the need of diversification. The goal to be achieved is to form the GDP with diverse industries, including tourism.
Gold medals and letters of thanks of the RA Ministry of Economy were awarded to tourism organizations and individual professionals. Medals and certificates were presented by Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan.
