Problems of frontier villages to be discussed during OSCE MG Co-chairs' visit
The OSCE mission will hold monitoring of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border near the village of Berkaber, Tavush region.
Early in the morning regional administration head Armen Gularyan met with commander of the frontier regiment, colonel Sergey Karapetyan, a PanARMENIAN.Net correspondent reported from the scene.
"The road to Kirants and Berkaber regions is constantly shelled, what makes field works impossible," Gularyan said. "Administration requests the OSCE to mediate a meeting with the Azeri side. We can meet in Georgia and discuss security issues. The road to Ijevan is out of order. Armenian posts were fired upon from a large-caliber machinegun."
For his part, colonel Karapetyan assured that the problems of frontier villages will be discussed during the next visit of OSCE MG Co-chairs.
"Armenian frontier villages were shelled 3394 this year and 3500 times last year," he said.
