Edward Nalbandian: Opening of borders requires their recognition
At today's parliamentary hearings on the protocols and the process of Armenia - Turkey settlement, the head of the central office of Hay Dat in political affairs of ARF Dashnaktsutyun Giro Manoyan , referring to the paragraph of the Protocol on mutual recognition of the borders, stressed that establishment of diplomatic relations and opening of the border between the two countries can be achieved without mutual recognition of borders.

He brought up examples of Russia and Japan, Russia and China, which established diplomatic relations without solving the problem of borders.

Other MPs supporting the view of Giro Manoyan, cited the example of Georgia, which has had still not clarified territorial issues with Armenia, but diplomatic relations have been established.

Armenia's foreign minister Edward Nalbandian, answering these questions, particularly said that opening of the borders without their recognition is impossible. Commenting on the example of Georgia, Edward Nalbandian said that Armenia and Georgia recognized mutual borders, and one must distinguish between the concepts of demarcation, delimitation and recognition.
