ANC in search of way out of RA-Turkey rapprochement process
"By signing RA-Turkish protocols in Zurich, Turkey has achieved its goal: Armenian Genocide issue will be removed from international agenda and referred to historic subcommittee," Armenian National Congress coordinator Levon Zurabyan noted at news conference in Yerevan, commenting on ANC statement on RA-Turkish protocols' signing in Zurich.
According to Zurabyan, in exchange for removal of Armenian Genocide issue from international agenda, Armenia expects opening of border with Turkey, with the latter now setting Karabakh issue as a precondition. "Which means, Turkey achieved Genocide issue suspension, and Armenia's expectations are now up in the air," ANC coordinator emphasized.
Dwelling on recent protest actions, organized by ARF Dashnaktsutyun, he noted that protest rallies which do not demand the resignation of RA President Serzh Sargsyan, are still conducted within the limits stipulated by the regime. "Serzh Sargsyan's resignation is the only way to suspend RA-Turkish rapprochement process."
Commenting on passivity of ANC in the light of recent developments in RA-Turkey relations, he noted that ANC is conducting an active work for activation of those who used to support Armenian government. Mass rallies will be conducted as soon as the decision is taken, he added.
