Real conciliation requires Turkish Government to recognize Armenian Genocide
In an open letter addressed to Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the Congress of Canadian-Armenians called on country's government to encourage Ankara to respect the commitments under recently signed Protocols.

"The Congress of Canadian Armenians supports this accord. It will hopefully lead to the resumption of normal diplomatic ties and the reopening of the shared border between the two countries. Normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey is an important and overdue step, but true and lasting conciliation requires the Government of Turkey to come to terms with history and recognize the Armenian Genocide," say the authors of letter.

The Congress also expressed gratitude to Canadian Government for acknowledging Armenian Genocide and supporting efforts towards achieving its international recognition.
