Serge Avedikian: we have to shoot films on parts of Turkish history Turks stay silent on
"Cursed Island" Turkish- French short film is the story of the night when 30000 dogs were slaughtered by Young Turks in Constantinople.
"It was an attempt at better insight into the nature of people who organized and implemented 1909's atrocious extermination of Armenians, though the fact was not mentioned in the film," Serge Avedikian, French film director of Armenian descent, told a news conference in Yerevan.
"We have to shoot films on the parts of Turkish history Turks stay silent on. The same should be done by Turks, where Armenian history is concerned. This is the reason there was no reference to the Armenian Genocide in the movie," he noted.
Serge Avedikian voiced hope the film will be another step towards Armenian Genocide recognition.
"Cursed Island" will be screened at 2010 Golden Apricot international film festival.
