Since 1949, December 2 is celebrated as International Day for Abolition of Slavery
International Day for the Abolition of Slavery is marked on December 2. On this day in 1949 the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others.

In Armenia, the "Youth against trafficking" program was summarized on the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery.

"Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS) estimated as successful the "Youth against trafficking " program involving seven regions of Armenia and Yerevan.  The program was aimed at raising public awareness about the problems of trafficking. General Secretary of ARCS Anna Yeghiazaryan informed that the program was implemented with UNDP's funding.
