Upper Lars check point opening to positively influence regional economic development
Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met the newly-appointed Georgian Ambassador to Armenia, Grigol Tabatadze.

Congratulating Grigol Tabatadze on his appointment, the Premier expressed confidence the ambassador will contribute to further progress in Armenia-Georgia relations. Tigran Sargsyan emphasized the importance of economic collaboration development, characterizing current product turnover volumes as unsatisfactory.

"Possible opening of Upper Lars check point opening may positively influence regional economic development and strengthen the role of Georgia as a transit state," the Premier noted.

The parties touched upon the issue of Armenian churches in Georgia, emphasizing the importance of Surb Gevorg church reconstruction, initiated by Georgian authorities.

Tigran Sargsyan and Grigol Tabatadze discussed Armenia-Georgia intergovernmental committee activities, including 8th sitting to be conducted in the beginning of 2010 in Yerevan, as well as Armenian Culture Days in Georgia, scheduled for the next year.
