World Bank's ICT development program estimated USD 25 million
On Wednesday, December 16, World Bank Yerevan office hosted a video conference devoted to «2009 Information and Communication Development Program: Broadening Coverage and Intensifying Influence». Apart from WB representatives, conference was also attended by public and private sector representatives from Eastern and Central Asian countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldiva, Russia and Uzbekistan).

Armenian side was represented by Head of WB Yerevan Office Aristomene Varoudakis, Enterprise Incubator foundation's director Bagrat Yengibaryan, Internet Society NGO President Igor Mkrtumyan and others. World Bank-funded «Electronic Society and Innovations for Competitiveness» program (estimated USD 25 million) is at the stage of elaboration. It is aimed at developing a national broadband network focusing on accessibility in rural areas.

According to World Bank Director in Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, Martin Raiser, Armenia demonstrates positive results for attracting direct private and state investments in the sphere.

Bagrat Yengibbaryan noted for his part that ICT sphere develops dynamically and is among government's priorities.
