Armenian press in Egypt: over 140 years of activity
Armenian press in Egypt has a long history. As Dr. Suren Bayramyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter in Cairo, the Armenian periodicals are very diverse in style and subject matter: there are daily newspapers, weeklies, magazines, children's magazines; every traditional Armenian party has its own press organ.

"In 2005, the Armenian press in Egypt celebrated its 140th anniversary. The first Armenian newspaper "Armaveni" (Palm tree) was published on March 16, 1865, more than 165 titles of periodicals were published since then, " Mr. Bayramian said.

Dr. Bayramian published a book timed to 140th anniversary of the Armenian press, highlighting all Armenian newspapers and magazines of Egypt. He was awarded the Medal of Echmiadzin St. Mesrop Mashtots in 1999 and the Medal of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU).
