Iranian scholars protest bans against opposition
Dozens of instructors from the University of Tehran have called on the country's Supreme Religious Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to put an end to persecutions against pro-opposition figures.

The letter posted on the Internet was signed by 88 individuals who stressed the importance of holding accountable those guilty of anti-government speeches, Radio Liberty reports.

At the end of December, demonstrators' clashes with the police resulted in the death of at least 8 individuals, including the nephew of one of opposition leaders Mir-Hossein Mousavi.
