Hrant Bagratyan: Armenia will not get out of economic crisis
"Armenia needs a new large-scale and fundamental changes, otherwise it will not get out of the stormy economic crisis," Hrant Bagratyan , member of Armenian National Congress, Armenia's ex-prime minister told a press conference on 18 January in Yerevan.
According to him, today Armenia experience 8 times harder crisis than the whole world. One of the main reasons of that situation is encouragement of construction and particularly the construction of elite buildings, which are not sold and will not be sold within the next 5 years, since citizens do not have enough resources, Hrant Bagratyan said.
To overcome the economic crisis, he suggests to introduce a progressive income tax, encourage exports, etc.
Hrant Bagratyan , Armenian statesman, was born October 18, 1958 in Yerevan. In 1979 he graduated from the Yerevan Institute of National Economy. Between 1990 and 1993 - First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy. Between 1993 and 1996 - twice served as Prime Minister of Armenia. Between 1996 and 1997 was an adviser at International Monetary Fund (IMF). Between 1998 and 2006 - deputy head and director of human resources at the Yerevan Brandy Factory.
Since 2006 - leader of the "Freedom" party. Doctor of economic and philosophical sciences. Academician of the Academy of Natural Sciences. Recognized as a man of the year by the American Biological Institute (1995), in 1998 was recognized as a man of the millennium by the UN and Cambridge Biological Center, author of 50 scientific articles and 7 books.
In the book "Society and State" developed the theory of scientific and technological cycles. He was one of the first in the late 90's of the last century who predicted the total concentration of economic governance in 2010.
