No thaw in Karabakh conflict expected in near future

No thaw in Karabakh conflict should be expected in near future, according to Caucasus Institute Director Alexander Iskandaryan.

He also predicted no changes in OSCE MG format during Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the Organization.

Assessing the possibility of resumption of hostilities in the conflict zone, Iskandaryan noted that Azerbaijan won’t be allowed to wage a long war.

“The war, should Azerbaijan start it, might last a maximum of a week. After that, Azerbaijan will run out of foreign financing. Positional war will end in economic collapse and flows of refugees. I doubt whether the parties will take such a risk,” Mr. Iskandaryan told a news conference in Yerevan.
