RA NA adopts amendments to law on defamation
The Armenian National Assembly approved a bill on introduction of amendments to the RA Civil and Penal Codes. The amendments will entitle Armenian citizens to go to the law for and demand disclaimer of any media report insulting his/her dignity, if the publisher fails to prove the accuracy of information.

As a PanARMENIAN.Net correspondent reported from the parliament, Heritage group voted against the bill, following "the negative conclusion of the Venice Commission."

Meanwhile, one on the co-authors of the bill, Orinats Yerkir member Hovhannes Margaryan remarked that the Venice Commission gave a positive conclusion on the bill but pointed out to a number of drawbacks.
